Presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ to all people.

Know Jesus as Savior

How can you know Jesus as Savior?

A Savior is one who saves and Jesus is the Savior of the world. "For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him." John 3:17    "For the Son of Man (Jesus) has come to seek and to save that which was lost." Luke 19:10

To be saved means to be rescued. Why do we need to be saved or rescued? Because just like a person who is trapped in a burning is in danger and in need of being rescued, we too are in danger of dying and spending eternity separated from God in a place called Hell.

What must you do to be saved?

A-Admit to God you are a sinner. Sin is anything we think, say or do that does not please God. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23  All includes you.

Sin seperates us from God and prevents us from having a personal relationship with him.  'Behold, the LORD'S hand is not so short That it cannot save; Neither is His ear so dull That it cannot hear.  But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He does not hear." Isaiah 59:1 & 2

The Bible tells us that we must pay the penalty for our sin and the wages or payment for sin is death.  "For the wages of sin is death." Romans 6:23a

God made a way for our penalty to be paid through his Son, Jesus Christ. "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

B-Believe that Jesus is God's perfect son who died to save us.

Jesus is the only person who could pay the penalty because God will only accept a perfect, sinless sacrifice.  Jesus became our sacrificial lamb. "Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!"  John 1:29

So Jesus shed his blood and died on the cross in our place and was buried.  Not only that, he rose again from the dead on the third day and lives forevermore.   "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures." 1 Corinthians 15:3b-4

C-Confess Jesus as Lord.  "That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved;
10  for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation." Acts 10:9 & 10  You can confess Jesus as Lord right now in a simple prayer.

Here is an example:

Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I ask You to forgive me of my sins and save me now. I receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be. A men"

If you prayed that prayer you received Christ by faith

  1. Christ came into your life (Revelation 3:20 ; Colossians 1:27).
  2. Your sins were forgiven (Colossians 1:14).
  3. You became a child of God (John 1:12).
  4. You received eternal life (John 5:24).
  5. You began the great adventure for which God created you (John 10:10; 2 Corinthians 5:17 ; 1 Thessalonians 5:18).

If you have received Jesus Christ as your Saviour, as a Christian you should:

  1. Read your Bible every day to get to know Christ better.

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15)

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." (Psalms 119:105)

  2. Talk to God in prayer every day.

"And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." (Matthew 21:22)

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." (Philippians 4:6)

  3. Be baptized, worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is preached and the Bible is the final authority.

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" (Matthew 28:19)

"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." (Hebrews 10:25)

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" (2 Timothy 3:16)

  4. Tell others about Christ.

"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." (Mark 16:15)

"For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!" (1 Corinthians 9:16)

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." (Romans 1:16)
